Map Editor User's Manual

1. 1. Introduction


■ Features

"Map Editor" is an application that reads 2D image data saved in a general format, divides the pixels in character units (16 pixels x 16 pixels), and arranges them in any map area in character units.
Standards such as character maps of "Map Editor" conform to the specifications of Sega Saturn's VDP2. In order to make effective use of "Map Editor", basic knowledge about VDP2 is required.
The following color mode maps can be edited in the current "Map Editor".

  1. 256 colors / 32768 colors
  2. 32768 colors

■ Map Editor file format

"Map Editor" can handle the following file formats according to usage.

[Read]
S2D file A binary file containing character map palette information.

【keep】
S2D file A binary file containing character map palette information. SGL file This is a C language data file that contains character map palette information.

【import】
Data that is the material for BMP files and other characters. It can be added or changed by the plug-in module.
