■ Outline of CD emulation system configuration and functions
Figure 1 shows the configuration of the CD-ROM emulation system.
Figure-1. System configuration
CD emulation system:
It consists of a virtual CD and a target box. It is a system that emulates the operation of software, tests it, and plays the created write-once disc to check the operation.
Virtual CD (VCD):
One of the elements that make up the CD emulation system, it reads data from an MS-DOS file on the local hard disk or network and emulates it by commands from the CD block. It consists of a PC compatible machine and VCD I / F board as hardware, and a CD emulator as application software.
CD block:
One of the elements that make up a CD emulation system, located between the virtual CD and the main system, hardware that accepts input from the target box, sends commands to PC compatibles, and handles data from PC compatibles. A generic term for wear and firmware.
VCD I / F board:
Insert it into the expansion slot of a PC compatible machine to interface the CD block with the PC itself.
■ About this manual
This manual consists of two parts: a description of setting up a virtual CD system and a description of CD emulation software.
The setup section describes how to install it on a PC compatible machine. In addition, the CD emulation software edition describes the procedures required to perform emulation work.
Installing a VCD I / F board on a PC compatible machine requires a rudimentary knowledge of the PC compatible machine. In addition, knowledge of MS-DOS program execution and basic knowledge of CD-ROM standards are required to execute CD emulation software.
