2. Replacing discs

1> Strict adherence and basic procedure

1) Strict adherence

When exchanging "Disk 1" and "Disk 2", strictly observe the following items.

<< Strict adherence when replacing discs >>

2) Disc replacement basic procedure

Replacing "disk 1" and "disk 2" is performed according to the "basic procedure for disk replacement" shown below.

<< Basic procedure for replacing discs >>

  1. Display a message on the game screen prompting you to replace the disc

[Please replace the disc. Press the open button on the main unit to go to the multiplayer screen. After exchanging disc 1 and disc 2, close the CD door of the main unit and restart the game. ] (User removes "Disk 1" = presses the open button on the main unit)

  2. Move the process to the multiplayer screen (user sets "disc 2" = closes the CD door of the main unit)
  3. Check the CD of the inserted disc
  4. Display required information (License Sega logo)
  5. If there is no abnormality, return to the application immediately

    * The procedure for saving (saving) necessary data to the backup RAM was omitted.

2> From "Disk 1" to "Disk 2"

1) At the end of "Disk 1"

When the main game of "disc 1" ends and the game shifts to "disc 2", replace the disc according to the "basic procedure for replacing discs".
When "Disk 2" starts with the transition from "Disk 1", display that is not related to the main game (display of Sega logo, title screen, etc. in the application) is not performed as much as possible so that the game can be connected smoothly. It is desirable to do. (1. Basic design 2> There is a contradiction with the content of the title sequence, but for this, refer to the recommended specifications in 5. below.)

2) At the time of continue start from the contents of "Disc 2" in "Disc 1"

If the game starts from the contents of "Disk 2" due to continue etc. even though it was started with "Disk 1", it means that the game will start from "Disk 2" before the disk replacement process. Notify the user on the screen display.
(User selects Continue from the titles in "Disk 1")

  1. Read the continue information from the backup RAM (the user decides to select the recording from the contents of "Disk 2")
  2. Display on the game screen that the game will start from "Disk 2" [Start from Disk 2]. ]
  3. Follow the << Basic procedure for replacing discs >> below.

3> From "Disk 2" to "Disk 1"

As shown in the basic design section, in the case of game over, continue, or game clear on "Disk 2", always return to the application start point ("SEGA logo") in "Disk 2". As will be described later, even in the case of resetting by "A + B + C + start button" of the pad, the screen returns to the "title screen" in "disc 2". Therefore, the case of migrating from "disk 2" to "disk 1" is when there is no record (save data) starting from the contents of "disk 2" even though it was started with "disk 2", or "disk". It is only possible if the user selects a record that was launched in "2" but starts from the contents of "Disk 1". This will be explained in the section 4> Dealing with misinsertion of discs.

* If there is a game-like connection from "Disc 2" to "Disc 1",
2> From "Disk 1" to "Disk 2" 1) Replace the disk according to the section at the end of "Disk 1".

4> Misinsertion of disc

Since it goes through the multiplayer screen once, there is no possibility (cannot judge) that the disc of another application is inserted incorrectly. Therefore, it is possible to determine the mistaken entry and notify the user by message only in the cases shown in 1) and 2) below.

  1. When "Disk 2" is started but there is no corresponding save data When "Disk 2" is inserted without any record (save data) used by the application, or when "Disk 2" is started. However, if there is no record (save data) starting from the contents of "Disk 2", the following warning message is displayed and the user is requested to replace the disk.

[This is disk 2. There are no records that can be started from this disc. Please reinsert the disc 1. ]

    * Not included if there is no record (save data) that starts from the contents of "Disk 1" even though it was started with "Disk 1". (This is because "Disk 1" has a function that allows you to start "from the beginning".)

    * It is up to each application to decide whether or not to provide a function that allows "starting from the beginning" after "Disk 2".

  2. I started with "Disk 2", but when the recording of "Disk 1" is selected by the user, in this case it is not a mistake, so
    2. Replacing discs 2> From "disc 1" to "disc 2" 2)
    Correspond according to.
