2. Basic matters


2.1 Package configuration

The ADDCDW package consists of the following files.

2.2 Operating environment

This system operates in a DOS environment on an IBM-PC. The required hardware and software are shown below.

2.3 Definition of terms

Defines the terms used in this system.

disk
When we simply write it as an optical disc, we mean a CD-R disc in this manual.

CD builder (disc builder)
A tool for creating disk image files.
Refers to XBLD and VCDBUILD.

Disk image file (DSK file)
This is a file created on the hard disk as it is, with the contents to be written on the CD-R disc.

Postscript image file
A temporary file created by ADDCDW for work.

TOC file
A file that describes track information.
File name excluding the extension The main body is the same as the DSK file.

Path name
A generic term for drive names, directory names, and file names.

Subcommand
Instructions for ADDCDW.

Master disk
A disc with the same contents as the commercial disc.
It cannot be added to the master disk.

Debug disk
A disk to create for debugging.
It is possible to perform full update and partial update multiple times.

Test mode
A mode for writing using the test mode of a CD-R drive.
Simulates writing to a CD-R disc.

On-the-fly writing
This is a method of writing to a CD-R disc while creating a sector image of the disc (no DSK file is required).
