Explanation of words

DSP (Digital Signal Processor)
This is a high-speed calculation dedicated circuit that mainly performs calculations (multiplication / addition) at high speed.

Gouraud shading
Gouro is a kind of calculation algorithm. In the process of calculating the color of each position (dot, pixel) of each displayed object, calculations such as "the part that is exposed to light is bright and the part that is shaded is dark" are calculated.

C3
This is one of the error processing, and indicates the state in which error correction cannot be performed when data is read from a CD.

Frame buffer
RAM for storing pictures to be displayed. The line buffer has a limit on the pictures that can be arranged horizontally, but since it has the RAM for the TV screen, there is no limit on the horizontal direction.

Pixel
A unit that represents a pixel in drawing.

PCM sound source (Pulse Code Modulation sound generator)
This is a method of converting sound into PCM data, storing it in memory, and reading it from memory during performance to output the sound.

Interlace
This is one of the image output scanning methods, and is a method to obtain an image of one frame by scanning twice.

MPEG (Motion Picture (image coding) Expert Group)
An international standard for compression of color moving images (including audio) such as television and video. Full Screen, Full Color, Full Motion, and CD Quality Audio can be played under this standard. In addition to complying with international standards, it has original special functions.

parts
It is drawn with a drawing command and can be divided into texture parts and non-texture parts.

Perth
In order to give a sense of perspective with computer graphics, the distant object is small and the foreground object is large.

Sprite
An image pattern that can be moved and redrawn at high speed. By preparing several sprite patterns and redrawing while moving the specified coordinates, you can create an animation effect such as the game character moving around.

High resolution
Abbreviation for high resolution. Both a normal TV and a dedicated monitor can display high resolution, but the dedicated monitor has a higher resolution.

Texture mapping
One of the computer graphics methods, it is a method of pasting a pattern on an object.

PCM (Pulse Code Modulation)
This method divides the sound (waveform) according to the time axis and replaces each peak value with digital data. The data obtained by this method is called PCM data.

Effect data
When the sound generated by the sound source section is applied with an effect through DSP, the resulting sound is displayed.

Reverb
A type of sound field effect that can create the atmosphere of a hall, stage room, iron plate, etc.

PLL (Phase Locked Loop)
A phase-locked loop (IC) that follows the phase of an input signal.

IPL (Initial Program Loading)
It is one of the list processing languages. From the instructed I / O device, the instruction to load the program is output to the processing device.

clipping
Removing image data outside the specified drawing access area.

PAL system (Phase Alternation by Line system)
This is a standard system for color television broadcasting with 625 scanning lines and 25 images per second, developed in West Germany.

NTSC system (National Television System Committee system)
This is the standard method for color television broadcasting with 525 scanning lines and 30 images per second, which is approved by the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) and adopted in Japan, the United States, South Korea, etc.
